I spent my working life writing system software, to control large warehouses for ‘just in time’ shipments to the majority of UK supermarkets. Spending most of my life hiding behind a multiple computer array making sure systems were as they should be.
I started painting for relaxation, and enjoyment. Before long I had several canvases, mostly rubbish…! Gradually my skills developed, and people liked my work!
Eventually I wanted to retire and what then? Well I took up walking, travelling, taking photographs and more painting.
‘Photographs are what the lens sees. Paintings are what the artists see….’

So initially my art was based on what the camera saw, the result a flat image – 2 dimensional and lacklustre – no matter what video imaging device – projector, TV, Computer screen, Tablet or Mobile phone.
So I ask you, please look through some of my work here, if it strikes a cord, stirs a memory. Then in my mind Art has done what I, and many others intended.
Thank you for reading and looking. Graeme Hird – Artist.
